On Wednesday, May 20, 2009, Georgia Conservation Voters held its Ninth Annual Environmental Leadership Awards at the Georgia Railroad Freight Depot.
Twenty-eight legislators, including 10 senators and 18 representatives, were honored for their pro-conservation actions during the 2009 Georgia General Assembly.
Seventeen of the honored legislators attended the event and were presented with awards. We appreciate all those who were present to help us honor state legislators who have distinguished themselves through their work to protect Georgia's environment.
Special recognition also went to Stacy Shelton, who received the Draper Lifetime Achievement Award for her journalistic efforts profiling Georgia’s environmental issues during her time with the Atlanta Journal Constitution. The Draper Lifetime Achievement Award is awarded annually at the Environmental Leadership Awards to an individual who has provided inspiration and leadership to the conservation community over the course of their career.
