Nick Moraitakis, Board Chair, is a former Representative of District 42, covering parts of DeKalb and Fulton Counties . He works as an attorney at Moraitakis, Kushel, Pearson & Gardner, LLP and is the former Executive Vice-President of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association. Chan Caudell, Vice-Chair, lives in Habersham County with his wife, Tammy, daughter, Gracie and son, Smith. Chan is an attorney with Caudell and Hotard, LLC, and a former Habersham County Commissioner. A native of the area, he grew up fishing in the Chattahoochee and Soque Rivers. Cynthia McEwen, Secretary, is a core member of the leadership team at Avastone Consulting, an Atlanta-based organizational consulting firm that works with complex U.S. and international business organizations in executive, leadership, and organization development. Brian Buckelew, Treasurer, is an attorney with Clements & Sweet. Brian represents injured workers in workers compensation claims. Charlie Tanksley, Political Chair, is a former Senator from Cobb County's 32nd district and was appointed by Governor Roy Barnes as one of his Floor Leasers in the Senate. He was the first Republican to be appointed to this position by a Democratic Governor. He is Of Counsel at the law firm of Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice. Frank Burns is an attorney with J. Franklin Burns, PC, a law firm that he began in 2002. His practice is devoted exclusively to representing claimants in workers compensation cases and personal injury cases. Bertis Downs, a resident of Athens, Georgia, is general counsel for the band REM and an adjunct professor at the University of Georgia School of Law. He is also very active in the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation. Josh Marks is a senior associate with the law firm of Davis, Pickren & Seydel, LLP in Atlanta, where he specializes in the areas of real estate, environmental and conservation law, general business law, and non-profit entities. Prior to attending law school, Josh worked as a community organizer, media specialist and campaign coordinator over the course of seven years for a number of national environmental organizations, including Green Corps, the Endangered Species Coalition, and Sierra Club. Josh and his wife, Hedy, and their sons, Jacob and Charlie, live in Roswell . Rutherford Seydel is a partner in the law firm of Davis, Pickren & Seydel, and specializes in commercial real estate and corporate and foundation law. He is co-founder and chairman of the Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, and is vice-chairman and treasurer of the Conservation Fund. Cathy Woolard is a public affairs consultant with over 20 years experience lobbying and working in the non-profit arena. She was formerly Southeast Regional Director for the League of Conservation Voters. She has also served as an elected official representing Northeast Atlanta on the Atlanta City Council as well as President of the City Council. L. Warren Turner, Jr. is a sole general practice attorney. He is married to Kelly D. Turner and has two children; Caroline A. Turner and Loyce W. Turner, III. He strives to preserve natural areas and is extremely involved in teaching children to respect, understand and love nature. He is currently involved with the Planning Advisory Committee in Valdosta in preparing and developing a plan for bikes and pedestrians. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Valdosta State College, Valdosta, Georgia and a Juris Doctorate from Mercer University, Macon, Georgia. James E. Mathis III is president of Infratec Consultants, Inc., a Atlanta-based consulting firm offering a full range of planning, engineering, operations and management services to civil and environmental community. |
