Last Day for Primary Registration - June 19

Vote It is time to perform your democratic duties, Georgia... Election year is upon us. This year elections will be held for local and statewide offices. Don't miss your chance to exercise your right to vote and voice your support for your candidates.

The deadline to register in the upcoming general and any run-off primary elections is June 19th. Primary elections in July will settle a number of state and local races and set the stage for contested races in November, including the governor's office.

Here's how you register... Go to www.sos.state.ga.us/elections/elections to download and complete your application to be printed, signed, and mailed.

Why register to vote in the primaries? For several great reasons... 1) All politics is local. It is these politicians that are making the decisions that will affect your daily lives. 2) Energy Costs! The Public Service Commission, which regulates utilities, has two seats up for a vote. 3) Many offices will be determined during the primary. Some seats have only Democrats or only Republicans running. Other contests are so one-sided that the winner of the majority party's primary is almost certain to win the general.

 Support Our PAC

A political action committee, or PAC, is the name commonly given to a private group, regardless of size, organized to elect or defeat government officials in order to promote legislation, often supporting the group's special interests. Georgia Conservation Voters has a political action committee of its own.

This PAC status allows us to get directly involved in political campaigns and electioneering. We are able to donate money to the campaigns of endorsed candidates and to run independent expenditures for our top races. These independent expenditures enable us to organize our own field and media efforts for candidates that work to protect the environment here in Georgia.

Your financial assistance will enable us to better assist pro-environmental Democrats and Republicans running for state or local office. This will help ensure the legislative and political success of Georgia Conservation Voters and conservation initiatives in Georgia.

To Donate Online...

Georgia Conservation Voters (GCV) is a non-partisan citizens' organization dedicated to protecting Georgia's environment and the health of all Georgians by advocating in the legislature and in the media for strong environmental protections; helping to elect conservation-minded leaders to Georgia's General Assembly and selected local races; and by holding our elected officials accountable for how well they worked to protect and restore Georgia's environment.

Sincerely,
